Back up cam

Looking to get a back up cam for my Safari Damara 235s (23'6" oal).
So far what I think is the best deal is Wireless Backup Round Camera
and 2.5" LCD Receiver
Item#: 8907AB for $116.xx it's from 4ucam.com . It's wireless and the camera has a 7' wire to the transmiter. So in my case if the monitor is on the dash; subtract 5' to the front bumber and subtract 7' from the back then the transmitter to monitor should only be 10'-12'. This should be an good enough signal?
I searched "4ucam" and found a couple of posts about people looking at them and ordering them but no one said they had one or how well it worked.
Any one have on of these?

Using 50 amp service with a 30 amp Class "C"

We live in Florida and when camping in the morning the AC is going, the coffee pot is going, the TV is on, then breakfast with the microwave, toster etc. a lot of amps (watts too). Then the wife will crank on her hair drier.
With a 30 amp unit this is too much. Since most camp grounds now have 50 amp availible can you/should you just use the 50 amp with an adapter?

RE: Why should I buy a class C?

HI
I just did that. I went from a Chevy Silervado 2500HD and a 30' Laredo 5th wheel to a 2008 Safari Damara 235s and a 2008 Toyota Yaris 5 speed to drive to work and as a toad.
The first two weeks I saved $127 in gas just going back and forth to work. Toyota= 40mph Chevy= 14 mph.
Realy glad I did every time the price at my "cheap:|" station goes up.

RE: Toad Question

Towing a 2008 Toyota Yaris. You need to get the 5 speed manual though. Gets like 40mph and weighs 2250.

RE: Shoping for a Class C and Dealers asking for ERNEST Deposit

Yes,
I taught my wife to drive a 5 speed years ago but she told them she couldn't drive a manual and felt uncomfortable driving the new big (to her) motor home so they are throwing in a Blue OX tow package.

RE: Safari Damara 235S ?? Comments please!!

Had this posted under B+ but read that B+ is just a marketing term and they are class C's so I put it here.

Safari Damara 235S ?? Comments please!!

I'm getting a Safari Damara 235S next week. Any one have a Damara? Any suggestions on what to look for at the walk through. Seems like a nice small coach (only two of us). We're moving from a 2006 Laredo 28RL fifth wheel and other than renting a Class C years ago, have no experience with this type of unit.
The reason for moving to the B+ is I can't justify keeping a 2007 Chevy Silerado with a 6.00 Vortec to drive to work each day. We're not retired and only get to take the fiver out once every couple of months and for vacation.

RE: Shoping for a Class C and Dealers asking for ERNEST Deposit

Found a great dealer.
I had several things working and I went with a New 2008 Safari Damara 235 S for $50K . They are taking my truck and Laredo and throwing in a 2008 Toyota Yaris 5 speed. This was one stop shopping. Not only did I get a good deal on the Safari B but I’ll get the title to the car but the cost will be put in the coach loan. That way only one payment and the interest is tax deductable.
Any way thank you for your help .

RE: Shoping for a Class C and Dealers asking for ERNEST Deposit

For this topic I'm talking about buying a Class C motor home. I'm also buying a Toyota Yaris or a Honda Fit.
The idea is to get rid of the 5th wheel (even though we love it) and the truck and get a little car to commute to work and that can be towed behind the Class C

Shoping for a Class C and Dealers asking for ERNEST Deposit

I posted a couple of times re getting out of my 2006 Laredo and 2007 Silverado 2500 HD and into a small class C and a little Toyota Yaris or Honda Fit to commute with and pull when taking the coach out. See my posts.
In shopping for the best deal several dealers want an earnest deposit $500-1000 quote- "To get the very best pricing for you I do need an earnest deposit, refundable if we can not attain the right payment for you. A credit card deposit of $1000 will hold the coach while we determine financing options". My question: Is this how coach dealers work? If so how do I compare deals from competing dealers ? Do I give 4 or 5 dealers a Grand a piece?
I'm not asking them to go out and buy the coach for me and hold it on their lot or drive it to my house so I can look at it. I not asking them to burn a drop of gas just take the salesman's time to check my credit , my trade and their pricing.
So you veterans please tell me how this works.

Mid fold out bed like Safari Damara 213-ANY OTHERS??

Any others
Looking at a small class C or (B+) with a middle sleeping area (Overstuffed couch becomes queen size bed). It's just my wife and I and we are past the age of crawling up in an over the cab bunk. Also the little closet sized back side rooms with the little foam pad doesn't appeal either.
I realize I could go to a larger coach 26-32' with a full back bedroom but the idea is to stay under 50K out the door. With gas getting to be what it is I don't want an old used coach either.
Any suggestions-moving from a Laredo 28rl fifth wheel so I don't know Class c's very well.

moving from 32' Laredo to Class C ??

I have a 32' Laredo fifth wheel that we love. The problem is with work schedules etc we only get out once every couple of months. Of course I have to drive the 2007 Chevy Silverdo 2500 HD to work every day. It's a 6.00 Vortec gasser. Comming up on 3.60 a gal is getting bad.
My possible solution. Trade the fifth wheel on a small C or B+ (there's only two of us)and the truck on a Smart Car or Honda Fit for work commute (26 miles each way).
I figure the payments on the Class C would be simular to the truck ($489) and the little car to the fifth wheel ($225). I would still have the camping outings and the savings in work gas would be a bunch.
Does this sound like a plan, any recomendations?? Rented a Class C years ago but never owner one.
